PHOENIX — For the first time in 18 years, the Arizona Cardinals will have new uniforms. The new look was unveiled Thursday night at a private event in downtown Phoenix and then showcased to the world on social media. Gone are the days of the dual-colored jerseys with underarm patches, and interchangeable pants with a tapering stripe along the side.
Arizona, in collaboration with Nike, rolled out three monochromatic uniforms — all-red for home, all-white for the road and all-black as an alternate uniform. In a release, the Cardinals said the process to design new uniforms began in late 2019 but was interrupted by COVID before eventually restarting.
The red jerseys have “Arizona” across the chest in white with white numbers outlined in silver, and “Protect the Nest” on the inside of the back collar.
The white and black uniforms have similar designs. Neither has any wording across the chest; instead, the word “Cardinals” is on both sleeves across a thick silver stripe in between two thin red stripes, which the team said is an “homage to past Cardinals uniforms.” Inside the back collar on the black and white uniforms is “Bird Gang.”

The white and black pants both have the same trim as the sleeves: a thick silver stripe adorned on either side by a thin red stripe down each side. All three jerseys have the bird head on the upper back, between the collar and the nameplate.
The Cardinals’ primary helmet will still be white, but it was redesigned with a shell that includes silver sparkles and a silver face mask instead of the gray on previous versions. The Cardinals’ logo is larger and was “updated with digital shading and a metallic sheen.” Arizona will also have a black version of the helmet that it will wear with its alternate uniforms.
